What’s in season:

Have you ever had a tree ripe peach? Instant gratification guaranteed. You know it’s good when you have to eat it over the sink. You’ll also find firm ones for the days ahead, picked close enough ripeness to maintain the wonderful flavor. Are you a pie baker? Enter your pie in the annual peach pie baking contest!

Lots of berries. Melons. Lots of zucchini, peppers and the height of summer squash as well.

Viereck Farms will have Asian long beans, sweet corn, tomatoes, grape tomatoes both red and yellow, peppers, string beans and kirbys. Also a limited supply of blackberries, heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, hot peppers, serrano, jalapeno and cayenne, Cubanelle peppers, patty pan squash and yellow squash.

Eckert’s Farm will be back again this week with their delicious sweet white corn! They report: “We are now in full swing with the harvest. In addition to our corn we will have peaches, red haven variety, that we have each year, along with blueberries, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and zucchini, and of course our full selection of jams, salad dressings, bbq sauces, honey, salsa and relish. See you Saturday morning!”

What can you do with all that corn? Grill it or maybe make sweet white corn soup.

Hillacres Farms has chorizo on special. Also, lots of steaks, plentiful sausage, chicken. Be sure to stop by for a cheese sample.

Market Day Canele will have caneles and savory & sweet tarts, Gougere sliders (3 for $12) and cherry éclairs (2 for $10).

Tortilla Press’s grubb will feature gold bar squash from Flaim Farms in theie breakfast quesdadillas “…and we’re getting big and juicy blueberries from Hammonton, so we’re using them on our French toast!”

The market kicks off the peach season with a day dedicated to delicious NJ peaches! Enjoy a peach pie/peach cobbler contest, peach goodies, live music, demos and more. A few days later, the town of Collingswood, well known for its restaurants, hosts a Just Peachy Restaurant Week starting August 5.
