One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. -Virginia Woolf
Weather forecast for Market hours: Joaquin won’t be bothering us much (yet) but chilly! Mid-50s and some showers during later market hours.
Music: Get happy! Market regulars John Rossi (east stage) and Dave Kelly (west stage) will perform.
What’s in season:
Autumnal goodness. Enjoy pumpkins and squash (and keep in mind that squash are pretty sturdy so keep them in a cool dark pantry and save the room in your fridge for something else).
DanLynn Organic farms will have the following certified organic produce: Lettuce, kale, fingerling potatoes, spaghetti squash, pie pumpkins, yellow onions, okra, tomatoes and peppers.
Duker T’s Catering is bringing cream of asparagus soup, stuffed jalapeño peppers, stuffed long hot peppers and chicken salad (sounds perfect for a long, rainy weekend!). Treehouse is “canning soups with Jersey fresh veggies from some of our favorite Market Farmers. Stop by our stand to see what we have conjured up. We are also feeling spicy, pumpkin spice that is. Try a pumpkin bagel, muffin or GF and vegan pumpkin bread. Mmmmmm.”
Wild Flour Bakery has fall treats! Their focaccia bread now has beets, honey crisp apples and feta cheese. They’re bringing have beet and shallot bread with quinoa and ginger batard and “holiday drunken apple pie” – mini honey crisp apple pies with apple brandy.
This week’s guest vendors:
Weckerly’s Ice Cream is at the market! Learn about their desserts, made with cream from grass-fed cows, free-range eggs and just enough sugar. “Every flavor is built with a unique recipe and is made completely from scratch, never using a pre-made mix.” They call their ice cream sandwiches “transcendent.”
