August 9, 2014: Still summer but those fall crops are approaching.
Weather forecast for Market hours: Mostly sunny – 70s. Lovely.

What a wonderful peach pie contest. It was delicious, beautiful, fun and packed – everything we could hope for. Special thanks to the contestants, judges and to our Friends of the Farmers’ Market (especially Erin O’Donnell!) for organizing a great event. We’ll have a wrap up and photos of winners next week! We’ll host an apple pie contest this fall!

What’s in season:  

Peaches galore – still. Lots of tomatoes. It’s just about height of season for these babies.

Other things to look for: Corn, eggplant, squash, onions, watermelon, cukes and lots more.

DanLynn Farms will have a sale on all tomatoes, kale and watermelons, 25 lb crates of plum tomatoes and will also have the following organic produce:  corn, cherry tomatoes, field ripened slicing tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, sugar baby sweet watermelons, Russian and French fingerling potatoes, green and yellow sweet bell peppers, sweet mini frying peppers, okra, baby red beets, chiogga and red beets, and yellow & white onions.

Hillacres Pride has on special hot Italian sausage.  Coming to the market this weekend, much anticipated Peach Festival Fresh Cheese.  Free range and pastured meats in good supply.  Pre-orders accepted at http://www.hillacrespride.com/.
