TWELVE
years, still growing.
Collingswood Farmers' Market's participating farmers
value the opportunity to interact with the people who eat the food they grow.
Their presence in our community emphasizes the role New Jersey farming plays
in preservation of our landscapes, lifestyles, nutrition, and our local food
supply.
Now into our second decade, the Market has become an
established
part of the social fabric of the community. People come to walk, meet
their neighbors,
and socialize while they shop for their weekly produce and more. Related
vendors and activities help make the Market a vibrant and fun destination every
Saturday, May through Thanksgiving.
The sooner you can get produce after it's
harvested, the better its
freshness, nutrition and flavor. The quality of the produce
is superior
and the atmosphere is wonderful! The successful weekly Market is also
an important
link in the local food chain. By providing a venue for selling directly
to the
consumer, the business of farming is strengthened for the small
family-owned
farms that are characteristic of our region.
Come on down to the Market, meet the growers, and take
advantage of the wonderful
harvests they have to offer!
Our
Market features the highest quality in-season local produce. And more.
Different
every week—wonderful things are discovered by those who explore.
You
will find (some
items season or weather permitting):
• Jersey Fresh vegetables and fruits from several
farms/orchards
• Conventional and certified Organic produce
• Farm made fruit & veggie pies
• Poultry pot pies
• Family-farm cheeses from PA
• Lamb and beef, whole free
range chickens and eggs
• Fruit preserves, jams and butters
• Whole grain bakery specialties
• Sweet bakery treats
• Authentic european-style breads
• Jersey Grown potted herbs, plants, & cut flowers
• Annual and perennial bedding plants
• NJ greenhouse-grown landscaping plants
• Local beekeepers with several varieties of honey and bee products
• Gourmet fresh baked dog treats
• Handmade natural herbal soaps
Patrons can sit in our cafe area and have coffee and hot
breakfast sandwiches.
Local musicians play live music. Each year the Market strives to offer
a variety
of Jersey Fresh products and locally-produced items. As the growing
season progresses,
each new Saturday offers something different.
Our Market carries local produce and flowers
rain or shine every
Saturday. Vendors with rain-sensitive items, the information tent, and
live music
are weather-permitting.
DON'T
FORGET, we are open in November! No, you won't find corn, or
strawberries, or
peaches in November, and it might be too cold for live music, but the
farmers
are still harvesting. It is a time for late season crops and year-round
agricultural
products such as meat, dairy, and honey. Our local prepared foods
vendors have
plenty of items, and it is the only month when we host crafters. The
Saturday
before Thanksgiving dinner is a must-go tradition for many--a popular
date regardless
of the weather.

June 11,2008: FDA deemed New Jersey-grown tomatoes NOT ASSOCIATED with
the 2008
salmonella outbreak.
We're not surprised, are you? ALL of the tomatoes at our
Market are JERSEY.
This is a great time to remind you that New Jersey
farmers are known for giving
you the highest quality produce using the safest handling practices. On
top of
that, when you buy local produce from the agricultural community, it's
less handled,
packed, and processed. Finally, a bigger portion of each dollar you
spend makes
it back to the farms who are dedicated to growing what you eat. Win-Win-WIN.

here to read the tomato report from the NJDA.
