Weather forecast for Market hours

80s, mostly sunny and basically beautiful – Market lovliness!

Music on 2 Stages

EAST STAGE MUSIC TENT. Market Favorite Sam Caruso brings out the fun in every repertoire and usually encourages one or more of his friends to stop by for some spirited collaboration. Music starts at 9am on both stages, every week, rain or shine.

WEST STAGE BELOW PATCO. Are they jazzy? Do they swing? Are they cutting-edge or nostalgic? Yes. All this and more. You may not be able to name them, but you’ll recognize most of the tunes, from the bossa nova, jazz, and pop catalogs.

What’s in Season

PEACHES from Schober’s Farm!

DanLynn Organic Farms will have organic non-GMO’d corn! As well as the following certified organic produce: baby bok choy, beets, blueberries, carrots, collards, cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, garlic (Belgium and elephant), honey, kale, onions (red, white & yellow), parsley, potatoes (French and Russian fingerlings, russets, Yukon golds and reds), scallions, yellow squash, Swiss chard and zucchini. A sale on organic zucchini too!

Cheese Etc. says, “It’s summer fruit season so we are rolling out our ‘Peaches & Cream’ this weekend. Made with Schober Farm peaches and spiked with amaretto!” They’re still featuring Blueberry Goat cheese, too.

Hillacres Pride will have kielbasa – fresh (unsmoked) variety or the traditional smoked Polish kielbasa. Both great on the grill for hot summer nights or gatherings! Their coolers will be stocked full of pastured chickens, Jersey steaks and pork sausages Stop by this week to try chipotle cheddar or Aged Susquehanna.

Nature’s Own Farm: Along with their usual beef and chicken offerings they’re running a special this week on: pork chops $5 per pound; hot, sweet and country sausages $6 per pound; Boston butts $4 per pound. All heritage breed hogs are raised locally in Juliustown, NJ – out in the woods and fed a non-GMo grain!

Origin Almond reports that it’s the last chance to enjoy their seasonal fresh almond milk flavor, Crushed Strawberry. This summer treat combines sun ripened strawberries with their signature fresh almond milk for a creamy, sweet, and tangy treat that’s bursting with delicious summer berry essence. Remember those Nestle Strawberry Quik drinks? These are a healthier, fresher & tastier version that’s delicious in cereal, smoothies or served chilled on its own. Stop by the Origin Almond booth to try a sample & be sure to grab a few since this is the last week they’ll be available!

Tortilla Press is featuring Squash Blossom Quesadillas from Flaim Farms, Springdale Farms Sweet Corn Quesadillas and Peach Bacon and Brie Quesadillas from Schober Orchards. Saturday’s waffles will also be topped with Schober peach topping. Grab some Fresh Squeezed Blueberry Lemonade with Jersey Blueberries, too!

From Our Official Market Bloggers

Sarah Licata (Salt Jar). Sarah got her purple carrots from Formisano Farms. She used the tops to make a fresh gremolata (a blended mix of fresh herbs, garlic, and lemon juice, like a pesto without nuts and cheese) The roasting took just 30 minutes, and dinner was ready in about 45, with very little work. You can do the same, and serve with a bit of chicken and/or potatoes. You can even roast everything together for a one-step mean. Find the specific instructions and Sarah’s gorgeous photographs at her blog by clicking here.

Zucchini 3 Ways! We love that Susan Mauer Lynch (Yellow Room Upstairs) uses produce from SO MANY of our farm vendors. For her three recipes this week, she identifies: AT Buzby, Savoie, Viereck, and Springdale for zucchini; AT Buzby, Savoie, Formisano, and Flaim for onions; AT Buzby, Viereck, and Springdale for tomatoes; Our Yards Farm for spices; Villa Barone for olive oil and pasta; Hillacres Pride for butter; and AT Buzby and Viereck for corn. For ratatouille, zucchini bread, and zucchini spaghetti, follow the link by clicking here.

BID Vendor Area

BID Vendors. At the west end of the Market, members of the Collingswood Business Improvement District (BID) may sell food products not necessarily locally-sourced. Villa Barone and Blue Moon Olive Oil feature olives and oils, for example.

This week, we’ll host Dulce Artisanal Pastry, Villa Barone, Blue Moon Olive Oil, Cheese Etc., and Sara’s Produce. Charlie’s Crepes has a BID space too, but he relies heavily on local produce.

For Animal (and Soap) Lovers

If their application is approved, we’ll have a new soap vendor, Knowhere Farm of Chesterfield, New Jersey, bringing the goats’ milk soap they produce themselves using milk from their own goats. They plan to bring some goats alone as well, and a safe enclosure to make it easy to do some goat-and-kid petting. Grab your own kids and bring them along. Could be fun.

For the Kids

SAY IT WITH CLAY. Our good friends from Say it with Clay will staff a table with clay and tools for kids (adults too) to try their hand at modeling. They’ll take advantage of the opportunity to promote their camp, their art therapy programs, and workshops. Come on by and “work some mud.”

For the Animal Lovers

IN THE DOG TENT. Our friends from Almost Home Shelter have 27 animals available for adoption. Pictured left is Finnegan, ready to go home with you pending your successful application. Get the process started on Saturday at the Dog Tent. All dogs adopted from our Almost Home Shelter will be spayed/neutered prior to leaving the facility. Watch out for this one: spending just a few minutes with him might make you helpless to resist him.
