Apple Pie Contest!
Still taking baker registrations! The annual APPLE PIE CONTEST is October 17! Is your pie blue-ribbon-worthy? Full contest rules and details are here. Pre-registration is a must!
What’s in season:
Apples are the fruit superstars. Come see which varieties are in and practice for the Pie Contest next weekend! Beets, broccoli, potatoes, cabbage, collards, fall greens, peppers, pumpkins and cauliflower can be spotted as well in the fall.
DanLynn Organic Farms will have a sale on fingerling potatoes and will also have red peppers, spaghetti squash, acorn squash, pie pumpkins, yams, slicing tomatoes, several varieties of lettuce, mixed lettuce bags, okra, onions and kale.
It’s pumpkintastic at The Treehouse tent with Split Pea Pumpkin Soup, Pumpkin Muffins, bagels, and vegan Pumpkin bread!
Wild Flour Bakery will have apple dumplings this week. Dumplings are sold in a mold that can be heated in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes (Mmm, serve with ice cream!). Wild Flour Baguettes (pictured) are perfect this time of year with soup. Wild Flour Bakery has pumpkin bread slices, too!
