It’s certainly true in the gardens and on the farm that magic happens this time of year. Dirt, water, and sun conspire to become deliciously edible.

See the “What’s In Season” section below for the details about just what you’ll in the shade of the tents, including whole chickens, ricotta cheese, pastured eggs and lamb, and tomatoes of every type.
Grab your reusable shopping bags and come on out!

We’ve seen this before. Sunny and mid-70s at the opening cowbell. Temps climb into the upper 80s by noon, humid as a summer in Collingswood, but dry.

News from our Official Market Bloggers

The theme of our blogs this week is how to make fantastic, Market-fresh dishes without heating up the kitchen.
This week’s blog posts include recipes using

Too Hot to Cook Tomato Crudo
Denine Gorniak (The Bicycle-Chef). Now that the weather is too hot for cooking, but the heat is delivering a bounty of fresh tomatoes, Denine offers this no-cook recipe for tomato crudo, plus a pasta serving suggestion .  LINK HERE.

What’s in Season
Blueberry Fields Soap. Carol says: “I’ll be bringing shampoo bars with me on Saturday and new fragrances of soap.”

Hillacres Pride. On special this week are whole chickens (See Susan Lynch’s blog post for Whole Chicken Slow Roast). This is the best time of year to grow chickens and our freezer is getting full. We’d like to move some of them from our freezer to yours. Also stop by and try our new Fresh Cheese—Kickin’ Salsa-a mildly spicy cheese spread that uses our Hot Pepperjack Cheese. New Beef is in and we are now taking orders for our pork packs (about 1/4 of pig—enough to fill a kitchen type freezer).

Cheese, Etc. we will be featuring our Spiked Peaches & Cream Cheese Spread for the peach festivities! Creamy cheese spiked with Amaretto and blended with our own homemade peach compote, thanks to those sweet peaches from Wm. Schober Sons Orchards!

O Made Granola. “Come stock up on O Made Granola before the summer ends. We’ll be back in September, but you’ll need plenty until then.”

DanLynn Organic Farms. “DanLynn Organic Farms will continue the big sale on Heirloom and Slicing tomatoes, Yukon Gold & Fingerling potatoes and will also have the following certified organic produce: corn, cucumbers and pickles, red white & yellow onions, garlic, kale, unpopped popcorn, honey, green beans, swiss chard, carrots, okra sweet frying & bell peppers & watermelon. Also, we’ll have our brown and green eggs from our free ranged chickens.”

Wm Schober Sons Orchards. Schober’s will have yellow and white peaches, nectarines, and Pristine apples.
