Collingswood Farmers' Market

“Dessert is probably the most important stage of the meal, since it will be
the last thing your guests remember before they pass out all over the table.”

--William Powell

LAST MARKET DAY!

November 22, 2008:
Weather forecast for Market hours:
Clear and sunny with highs around 40. Everything will be here waiting for you, at ideal refrigeration temperatures!

What's in season:
Thanksgiving prep. Boy, do we have stuff for the Thanksgiving table. BUT...holiday demand on items is unpredictable— coming early is strongly advised!

Broccoli. Cauliflower. Brussels Sprouts. Parsnips. Beets. Greens. Sweet potatoes. Potatoes. Green Beans. Fennel. Onions. Herbs. Mushrooms. Cabbages. Fall Squash. Cooking pumpkins...

Apples. Pears. Cranberries...
Eggs. Cheeses. Spreads. Meats...
Pumpkins. Decorative gourds. Amaryllis...

Prepared foods? How about fruit pies, pot pies, custard pies, stuffed olives, jams, jellies, cakes, breads...and treats for pooches.

Get your end-of-seas-on cheese on:
Hillacres Pride offer: By 5 or more cheese items (block or spreads) and receive 10% off the total cheese order! 11 block flavors and 9 spreads. Blocks are vacuum sealed and last unopened for months.

Pre-ordering gets you what you want. Hillacres Pride takes pre-orders and strongly advises it for this final Saturday. Click here for pre-order info.

Organic Blowout:
DanLynn Organic Farms is harvesting EVERYTHING left in their fields and selling them this Saturday at wholesale rates. Arugula, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Cabbages, Cauliflower, Collards, Scallions, and young Swiss Chard. They have appreciated your business all season!

A gesture of thanks: Schober Orchards gave away 98 half-baskets of apples and 98 gallons of apple cider last Saturday to thank 98 veterans who visited their apple stand and signed their guest book. Many Veterans were accompanied by their loved ones and the event was a bright note on a bleak-weather morning.

Another gesture of thanks: Schober Orchards is planning another round of generosity, for you, our loyal customers. Be on the lookout for a special email in December.

Some vendors asked us to remind you that they have products available post-season through various venues:

(For links to vendors' websites, click here.)

This is your last chance to order your fresh local turkey at the Market, but remember, Springdale Farms' Farm Market is where you will pick them up. Springdale Farms has weekday hours, too.

Schober Orchards welcomes you to their location in Monroeville, where they have a stand on location. Please check with Schober Orchards for more information.

Collingswood Businesses DiBartolo Bakery and Versailles Bread continue to bake year round at their Collingswood Haddon Avenue locations.

Painted Cottage Café's indoor homestyle cookin' is year-round at 712 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood. Open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, 7am-4pm. Their Sunday Brunch Buffet is all-you-can-eat.

Great Harvest Bread Company says, "You may know our Market neighbors, the "Cheese Ladies" (Hillacres Pride.) We are happy to announce that we will be carrying their delicious gourmet cheeses and spreads in our store (on Springdale Road in Cherry Hill).

Hillacres Pride now has a cheese/meat/egg buying service for winter! On specific dates through the winter, they are bringing their products to the Collingswood location for people willing to pre-order. Visit them this Saturday, and ask them to give you the details...or click here to ask them to send you more info.

We think Duker T's has a delivery procedure for large enough orders of olive trays and such...you'll have to ask them about it this Saturday.

(For links to vendors' websites, click here.)

"Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program" vouchers:
A senior you know may still have unused vouchers for the "Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program". Please remind them that this is the last opportunity to use them at the Market before they expire. WIC is also accepted at the Market.

Brussels Sprouts casserole. Don't forget the cheese. Click here to view and print.

Next Saturday...sleep in! CFMThe End

Thank you again, everyone, for such a great season. Be sure to visit again when 2009 starts growing— it will be our 10th season!
