Scene from last Satuday: Thanks again to all you not-so-fair-weather-friends!

You can see, pictured above, Formisano Farms brought Sikking Farms' gladiolas last week. Springdale Farms (turkey pictured below) took cover under PATCO. Some farmers carry each other's items in these final weeks--others get placed differently--be sure to explore before assuming something is not there.

November 15, 2008:
Weather forecast for Market hours:
Like last week. Early birds were rewarded with dryness. Temps in the 50s, climbing into the 60s.

What's in season:
TWO WEEKS LEFT.

Think Thanksgiving. All the classic Thanksgiving produce is now available. Do you need to test drive a new recipe before serving it to the entire family?

Local cranberries are now available at several of our farmers's stands.

Brussels Sprouts are IN. They will sell out, come early. Recipe below.

DanLynn emailed us their Jersey organic selection this week: Arugula, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage (green),
cauliflower, and swiss chard.

Hillacres Pride offers another end of season discount. This week: By 5 or more cheese items (block or spreads) and receive 10% off the total cheese order. Vacuum sealed, cheeses will keep, unopened, for three months in your refrigerator.

Great Harvest says they are sampling Stuffing Bread that will make your turkey leftover sandwiches taste even better.

Veteran's Day Apples this Saturday:

Schober Orchards wants to offer a gesture of appreciation to area veterans. They will give a "half-basket" of apples and a gallon of apple cider to each veteran that visits their stand at the Market THIS WEEKEND (Saturday, Nov. 15).

Veterans’ Day (actual holiday was Nov. 11th) honors the individuals who have served and sacrificed for the safety and freedom of their fellow Americans. Serving veterans who come out for apples on this holiday is a deeply rewarding experience for Schober’s John Hurff. He has treated hundreds, if not thousands, of veterans to apples at his Monroeville, NJ farm on Veterans’ Day over the years.

The Market thanks Schober Orchards for their generosity for this very special event.

Free drawing final week:
Enter to win their gift box of cheeses --enter at their table (not the info tent.) Drawing ends this Saturday.

Friends of Farmers' Market free drawing:
We're clearing out remaining Market sweatshirts in the upcoming weeks, by giving them away. This Saturday we draw names to win any remaining adult size XL and up sweatshirts. Enter at the information tent.

We try for fresh news each week, but the biggest news about November is recurring:
1. Jersey Fresh Thanksgiving Turkey orders,
2. crafters filling in the gaps, and
3. our call for Collingswood's St. Paul's pantry item donations for the needy.

Click here to read about these things if you haven't read about them in past emails.

Recipe:
Brussels Sprouts casserole. Don't forget the cheese. Click here to view and print.
