November 15, 2008: What's
in season: Think Thanksgiving. All the classic Thanksgiving produce is now available. Do you need to test drive a new recipe before serving it to the entire family? Local cranberries are now available at several of our farmers's stands. Brussels Sprouts are IN. They will sell out, come early. Recipe below. DanLynn emailed us their Jersey organic selection this week: Arugula, bok
choy, broccoli, cabbage (green), Hillacres Pride offers another end of season discount. This week: By 5 or more cheese items (block or spreads) and receive 10% off the total cheese order. Vacuum sealed, cheeses will keep, unopened, for three months in your refrigerator. Great Harvest says they are sampling Stuffing Bread that will make your turkey leftover sandwiches taste even better. Veteran's Day Apples this Saturday: Schober Orchards wants to offer a gesture of appreciation to area veterans. They will give a "half-basket" of apples and a gallon of apple cider to each veteran that visits their stand at the Market THIS WEEKEND (Saturday, Nov. 15). Veterans’ Day (actual holiday was Nov. 11th) honors the individuals who have served and sacrificed for the safety and freedom of their fellow Americans. Serving veterans who come out for apples on this holiday is a deeply rewarding experience for Schober’s John Hurff. He has treated hundreds, if not thousands, of veterans to apples at his Monroeville, NJ farm on Veterans’ Day over the years. The Market thanks Schober Orchards for their generosity for this very special event. Free
