Peach-colored dahlias and other similarly-colored cut flowers from Sikking Flower Farm and Dolinski Flower Farm. "Sign the peach"—Cast your vote in America's Favorite Farmers Market contest and you can scribble your name on our "We want our Jersey Fresh" peach banner. It's socially acceptable graffiti. Schober Orchards will have peach and peach cider samples(as always). We're hoping to have the newly crowned "Peach Queen" appear, but alas, we weren't able to confirm it at the time of the email. (If you spot a princess-looking girl walking around handing out peaches, that's her!) Special thanks to the Peach Promotion Council of New Jersey for helping us make this event a success.
Peaches get the spotlight this week, but farms also sent in some peachless news that we pass on to you: Dan Lynn Organic Farm reports, "Special this Saturday at our tent—organic Golden Nugget low acid cherry tomatoes. We're bringing a lot and they're on sale, $2 a pint!" Tomatoes by the crate are for sale, slicing ($15) or plum ($18). Reserve your crate by emailing DanLynnFarms@aol.com. Provide your name, cell phone #, and specify plums or slicing tomatoes. Other organic produce coming: Green bells and Habanero Hot Peppers, International heirloom tomatoes (pictured at right: a Polish variety), Russian Fingerling Potatoes, Low Acid Cherry Tomatoes, Slicing tomatoes, Plum Tomatoes, and watermelons.
