We wondered, hey, what wine goes with Ratatouille? We asked
Stephen Freehill of Moore Brothers Wine Company and he wrote back:
Hi Betsy,
Here are some wines that would work well with Ratatouille. My choice,
if I am sitting around and having ratatouille as a part of an antipasto,
is the Rosato.
Indicazione Geografica Tipica Salento Rosato Castel di Salve
2007 $13
The Marra family has been growing fruit in Salento for over 40 years.
Young Francesco Marra and his friend Francesco Winspeare began estate-bottling
small quantities of wine in the late eighties. There are over 100 acres
under vine, with the best sites and fruit reserved for the estate wines.
From 100% Negroamaro, this is a bright, red-fruited, delicious rosé,
with a touch of exotic spice on the finish.
Bardolino Le Fontane Corte Gardoni 2007 $14
West of Verona on Lago di Garda in the Veneto region of Italy, Bardolino
is both a charming village and a fragrant red wine. A blend of Corvina
and Rondinella, this is a polished, beautifully scented and silky wine
with pure red-berry flavors and a mildly spicy finish. Like other agricultural
communities where the cuisine is complex and varied, Bardolino has evolved
into a versatile, food-friendly wine.
Thanks,
Stephen Freehill
