East Stage Music Tent. We’ve got music from She Hates Me this week, which means newly-elected member of the Camden County Democratic Committee Shannon McGill Vasile will be singing pretty with Kevin Sullivan, who is better at crashing parties than joining them.

West Stage below PATCO. Market Favorite Sam Caruso brings out the fun in every repertoire and usually encourages one or more of his friends to stop by for some spirited collaboration.

Music starts at 9 AM on both stages, every week, rain or shine.

 

What’s in Season

Eckert’s will be back with corn and lots of it. If customers are getting low on their favorite salad dressings or jams they’ll have a full selection.

Fruitwood Farms will have beets, blueberries, sweet cherries, corn, cucumbers, nectarines, peaches, donut peaches, radishes, squash, string beans, tomatoes and honey. NJ goodness!

Hillacres Pride reports, “This week at Collingswood it is chicken week! Our freezers are full of our pasture raised chickens.  Stock up on whole chickens at a great price. We are accepting pre-orders for savings on 6 packs of leg & thigh or boneless breast.  As usual we will be well stocked on cheeses, and our delicious meats.  If this weather is too hot for you, grab some of our farm fresh yogurt and some fruit and make a great smoothie!”

Origin Almond is bringing back the Cinnamon Horchata, a very popular seasonal almond milks.  This modern twist on a festive summer favorite combines fresh almond milk with made-from-scratch organic brown rice milk which is then infused with organic cinnamon and real vanilla bean specks. Delicious when enjoyed with smoothies or cereal but even better on its own in a chilled glass. Stop by and try a sample!

The Treehouse is more “hole-istic” this week with handcrafted blueberry bagels featuring the Jersey Fresh blues of Green-Ford Blueberry Farm and Peaches-n-Cinnamon Cream Cheese with Jersey Fresh peaches from Schober and Son’s. Get cream cheese for sale in half pound containers or some to put on a tasty bagel at the Market. Available while supplies last.

It’s another “fruitful” market for Cheese Etc. & Gourmet Gifts. Check out their summer spreads: Blueberry Goat, Spiked Peaches & Cream, Lemon Shandy Beer Spread and Berry Grigio (with wine from Valenzano’s Winery!)

Grilled Bruschetta

Leanne Entwistle (The Creped Crusader). Leanne went with cherry tomatoes fresh from Formisano Farms at our own Market, and a baguette from Wildflour Bakery for her grilled bruschetta. This recipe takes the indoors outdoors by producing bruschetta on the grill. Fresh mozzarella and basil is about all you’ll need to make this perfect appetizer or accompaniment for grilled chicken and a salad. Ah, summertime! Blueberry Crumble Bars

Stef Perna (treatbelly) treats us to a special dessert item this week using a very short-lived commodity: the New Jersey Blueberry. It’s already too late to buy the organic berries she got from our cherished vendor Brookeberry Farms (They’re done for the season), but you can find plenty of berries from Hammonton at the Market this week from our other produce farms. Sugar, flour, butter and excellent blueberries combine here to make a crumble-topped masterpiece. See the details here.

Aunt Gig’s Refrigerator Pickels

Susan Mauer Lynch (Yellow Room Upstairs). Nobody knows the produce offerings at the Market better than Susan. She’s shopped cucumbers from Viereck Farms, Springdale Farms, DanLynn, and Savoie Organic. Garlic from Savoie, Flaim, Formisano, and DanLynn. Dill from both Flaim and Formisano. For these pickles, she went with crisp white Kirby Pickles from Savoie for the mild, delicate flavor and their crunch. Pick your own favorites and get the simple preparation instructions here.

 

BID Vendor Area

At the west end of the Market, members of the Collingswood Business Improvement District (BID) may sell food products not necessarily locally-sourced. Villa Barone and Blue Moon Olive Oilfeature olives and oils, for example.

This week, we’ll host Dulce Artisanal Pastry, Villa Barone, Blue Moon Olive Oil, Cheese Etc., and Sara’s Produce. Charlie’s Crepes has a BID space too, but he relies heavily on local produce.

 

Salsa Content Results

Denine Gorniak (The Bicycle-Chef) drove up from the shore to judge salsas in our Second Annual Salsa Contest. She also richly chronicled the event, with commentary, analysis of the individual recipes, personal reflections, and fantastic photos of the entries and the event. For Animal Lovers

Our good friends 4PawsNJ will be staffing the official Dog Tent in the middle of the Market this week, dispensing wonderful advice, offering adoptable animals (like Molly here) for your forever companionship, and selling the official Market Leash permits. Meanwhile, down at the Perkins end of the Market, Don’t Bully Us will be in attendance too. They bring a wading pool on hot days and a petting pen where you can get to know some adoptable pitbull rescues.
